writers contest discussion

In another topic there was some interest raised for a writers contest.

I think this is a good idea, and want to solicit your ideas for such a contest.

This would not be a contest sponsored by the admins, but a people powered contest.

I would be willing to put up a million points for the winner.

We would need judges.

We would need to determine how long the contest would run. I propose that it run for one week.

We would need to determine the rules for the contest. Would it be fiction or nonfiction? Would it be poetry, short story, novel or just some pre-assigned topic?

Any thoughts?

I really like that idea! It would be nice to have a contest on historical fiction and /or short story.

Okay, say we have writers write a short fictional account of an historical event, limit would be 8000 characters. That's enough to go into one board post.

Any other ideas?
